Vranje – The cultural, educational and spiritual event “Saint Sava’s Week, "which has been organized in honor of the first educator Archbishop Saint Sava for as many as 28 years, will be held in Vranje  from January 21 to 27.

At 7 pm on Sunday, January 21, Slobodan Milenkovic, the Mayor of Vranje, will open this year’s event at the Gallery of the National Museum, while the choir of the “Stevan Mokranjac” music school will perform and the “Woodcuts and Etchings" exhibition of the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade will be displayed. 

On the second day of the “Saint Sava’s Week ", members of the Regional Center for Talents will perform a theater play “The Story of St. Sava", while actors of the “Bora Stankovic” theater will perform a theater play "The Miracles of Saint Sava".

A literary portrait of Ljubica Arsic is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, when, apart from Ms. Arsic, Aleksandar Jerkov, a literary critic, will speak.   

On Wednesday, January 24, an exhibition of artworks by students, who participated in the “Saint Sava’s Week” competition, will be opened, followed by an exhibition of icons done by participants in art workshop of the Adult Education Center and by primary and secondary school students, while the crown of the evening will be the granting of awards to the best reciters, authors of literary and art works and to the best team of the “Saint Sava’s Teachings” quiz   and the promotion of the “Happy Days" newspaper.

On Thursday, January 25, an interactive literary meeting of writers Vlasta Cenic, Violeta Jovic and Zikica Dimitrijevic with students and children of the “Our Child " preschool institution will be organized.  From 7 pm, the “Legends” band will perform at the sports hall in Vranje. 

The Saint Sava’s spiritual academy will be held on January 26, while a divine liturgy and the cutting of the Patron Saint’s cake, as well as the granting of the 2017 “Saint Sava” awards, are planned to take place on the Saint Sava’s Day.
