Presevo – The theft of railway track units was prevented at the railway station in Presevo, said  ​​the "Serbian Railways Infrastructure" Company.

As stated, it was a joint action undertaken by employees of the "Serbian Railways Infrastructure" Company, the police and the Presevo railway station guards.

The attempted theft was organized at the spot across the railway station, in the forest belt along which the road runs. Upon catching the perpetrators, the police conducted an investigation and arrested them.

The points at issue are the railway track units stored at the railway station in Presevo following the overhauling of the Vranjska Banja – Ristovac and Bujanovac – Bukarevac railway routes.

The theft of base plates at the railway station in Presevo, which was prevented, is the fourth case of stealing in only ten or so days. In the previous three thefts, 470 base plates were stolen, by which the damage of over one million dinars was caused to the "Railway Infrastructure of Serbia" Company. 

In addition to considerable material damage, the theft of parts of the infrastructure and equipment directly endangers the safety of railway transportation.

This is another step that the "Serbian Railways Infrastructure" Company undertook in cooperation with state authorities, in order to prevent further thefts in the area, and thus the endangering of the safety of traffic and considerable material damage.
