Belgrade – “Investors who are willing to invest in hotels in local self- governments in spa areas can count on the incentives of the Ministry of Economy, because the government of the Republic of Serbia  adopted a decree governing the allocation of incentives for this purpose, "said  Goran Knezevic, the relevant Minister. 

"Our spas have the potential to develop and be more interesting to tourists, but they need investments for that. We, as the government, are willing to support the investors who recognize this potential and who are willing to invest in hotels in spas, "Mr. Knezevic said for the “Tanjug” news agency.

According to him, the investments that would be supported by the government should contribute to the development of the existing spas, but also to the establishment of new spa areas, as in Serbia, he said, there were many untapped sources of thermal and mineral waters with curative properties.

Pursuant to the regulation adopted on March 8, 2018, the Ministry of Economy opted to support investment projects in the service sector of hotel accommodation in the spa areas whose minimum value was two million euros and which ensured the employment of at least 70 new workers for an indefinite period of time. Investors can count on incentives of up to 50 percent of eligible costs, provided they are large companies, 60 percent if they are medium-sized companies and 70 percent if they are small companies investing in hotels in spas.

The new regulation on the terms and conditions for attracting direct investments specifies the conditions and the ways of attracting and encouraging investments of special importance, as well as the projects through which over 100 new workers are employed, but also the projects by which up to 100 new people are employed.
