Medvedja – The first International festival of folk dances was held in the Cultural Center of the municipality of Medvedja. During two evenings of the folk dance festival, folk ensembles from Poland, Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia performed.
The festival began with a parade of folk ensembles from the Poland, Gracanica, Cicevac and Medvedja, whose members, dressed in national costumes, walked through the streets of Medvedja.
“All this variety of colors, the splendor of national costumes and folk dancing represents the richness of diversity that we very much respect and heartily rejoice. This festival is precisely designed to show how the diversity of folk dancing connects nations with music and dance, "said the Mayor of Medvedja at the opening of the festival of folk dances.
The youngest participants in the festival were the first to appear on the stage of the Cultural Center, followed by guests from Poland and local folk ensembles.
The second evening of the festival, too, began with a parade of folk ensembles from Bulgaria and Montenegro.
The Mayor of Medvedja and the Director of the Cultural Center presented to representatives of the folk ensembles modest gifts and letters of thanks for their participation in the festival.
