Belgrade – Patients confirmed with COVID 19 can no longer be treated in home isolation. According to the latest instructions that the local self-governments received from the state, patients suffering from the contagious disease should be transferred from home isolation to makeshift hospitals in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis, from where, after triage, depending on their health status, they could be referred to COVID hospitals.

The local self-governments are obliged to follow this instruction, which they received from the Ministry of Health and the “Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut” Institute.

“According to the Government's decision, this applies to all those diagnosed with COVID 19. The reason for reaching such a significant decision on stopping the spread of the coronavirus infection is twofold: the first reason is that patients with proven COVID 19, who are at home, can spread the infection to their family members and the environment, and the second reason is the unpredictability of the disease itself, because even in patients with mild symptoms, the disease can escalate, or worsen, which can endanger the life of the patient”, said Dr. Verica Jovanovic, the Director of the " Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" Institute.

The decision, as Dr. Jovanovic said, applies to all those diagnosed with COVID 19 who are not in hospitals, but its implementation will, nevertheless, be adjusted to the time of diagnosis and the specific health status of each patient.
