Bujanovac –The city lives during a pandemic state of emergency, too, while the general impression is that Bujanovac has never been cleaner than it is now. The city will certainly be even nicer to live in once the planting of greenery in public spaces is completed.

In addition to the park, where young birch trees and evergreen trees have been planted, the square, the roundabout at the entrance to the city, parts of the main street and the area surrounding the municipal building will also get some new greenery. 

“It is a project worth 500,000 dinars, which has been previously approved, so that we are currently using the good weather to do the job," says Rahim Salihi, the Head of the municipal Investment and Development Department, which is implementing the project.

He expects that due to the curfew, which begins at 5pm on Friday and lasts until 5am on Monday, the whole job will be finished next week.

It was said earlier that some trees in the park and the square were ripe for cutting due to their age, while Mr. Salihi explained that he would hire experts to evaluate what needed to be removed. He reminded that new containers had been placed in the streets as part of the city's tidying up.

The Mayor of Bujanovac, Saip Kamberi, spoke at a municipal council meeting, which was held in February this year, about the need to fix the city’s greenery.

“In addition to being a danger, those trees look bad and will thus be replaced, "said Mr. Kamberi, adding that some new greenery would also be planted on the right side of the pavement toward the city center, which should be done this year.
