Bujanovac, Leskovac – According to the Emergency Management Staff, six wards of the Leskovac hospital will be transformed into the COVID Center for those infected with the coronavirus from the Pcinj and Jablanica districts. 

These wards will be separated from the rest of the hospital, while the employees who will be working in the COVID Center will not work with other patients in the future.

Rehabilitation, psychiatry, oncology, addiction diseases, infectious and thoracic wards will be used for the COVID Hospital, while patients and employees will be using a separate entrance.

“It is a physically separate part of the hospital, so that patients from two parts of the hospital will not be able to mix with each other. The employees who will work at the COVID Center will have no additional engagements and we will practically have 2 separate institutions, which is extremely important for preventing the spread of the disease, "said Leskovac Mayor Goran Cvetanovic.

He expects the additional equipment for the COVID Center to arrive soon.

“We expect to get one fixed and one mobile x-ray device, as well as 7 more respirators, 3 mobile and 4 fixed ones, which is a lot more than what we have had so far. We expect to get a greater amount of protective equipment and assistance with the medical staff, and there are indications that we will be green lighted to recruit new doctors and medical workers”, Mr. Cvetanovic says.

As the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced, the building of the new Clinical Center in Niš and the Leskovac hospital will be transformed into COVID centers, while experts from Russia visited the Leskovac health care institution to advise and help fight the epidemic.
