Меdvedja – In accordance with the decree of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Emergency Management Staff in Medvedja reached the final decision on putting the green markets into operation. According to the citizens, the offer is good, while the sellers are wearing the necessary protective equipment.

Medvedja was among the first municipalities to ban the operation of green and commodity markets for the purpose of preventing the spread of the corona virus, and among the last ones to open them. There were fears because the sellers at the green market are mostly from Leskovac, Vlasotince and Lebane, where a large number of people are infected with the corona virus.  Now the situation is more favorable, so that the markets have started operating.

According to the citizens, there are both sellers and buyers at the market, and everyone is obliged to wear masks and gloves.

“We have a market day on Thursdays and we all kind of missed going to the market, buying what we need and talking to each other. At the beginning, there was a fear that the virus would spread, but now the situation is calmer, and people are behaving more responsibly. Sellers wear masks and gloves, as well as buyers, and everyone tries to keep their distance," the citizens say.

The markets in Medvedja are open on Thursdays from 7 am to 3 pm, while the public utility company “Obnova” is obliged to regularly disinfect the market area.

According to the latest information, there are four patients infected by the corona virus in Medvedja, while the virus was brought to that area by a woman from Belgrade who was visiting her family.

It should be remembered that following the easing of the measures in Medvedja, the opening of the markets was postponed, then the decision that the farmers could sell their products was reached, which was withdrawn a day after.
