Belgrade – The Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, stated that 100 euros had been paid to 950,000 pensioners who had accounts in the Postal Savings Bank, while the payment to those with accounts in other banks had begun on Monday.
"We will effect the payments to all 1,780,000 pensioners by Wednesday," Minister Mali said for the “Prva” Television while he was talking of the state financial assistance of 100 euros to each citizen.
According to him, those who received social financial assistance would be paid on Thursday and Friday, and then, from May 25, the successive payment of all those who had signed up thus far would begin.
“The signing up lasts until June 5, while we will finish everything in a day, two or three. The citizens of Serbia should not worry in any way, since the Treasury will pay that money, "Minister Mali said.
He said that it was "the success of all citizens of Serbia", because "it has been shown how much the reforms implemented in the previous period have paid off ".
“When you have healthy public finances, a solid foundation for such measures, then you can achieve such success. You have heard the citizens say that this means a lot to everyone; some of them will pay the bills, some will donate it and some will give it away to their grandchildren”, Minister Mali said.
