The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, with the support of the European Union, is implementing the project "Making Diversity a Reality for Us: Building an Inclusive Society through Education and the Arts" in Serbia.

As part of the project, it is planned to develop teaching materials, which are intended for secondary school students. The aim of the endeavor is to empower teachers for teaching that will be based on interculturalisation and the promotion of human rights values, as well as to offer secondary school students interesting and stimulating teaching material that will enrich the knowledge and skills they gain within the formal educational process.

In the coming period, the development of at least three teaching materials is expected, for the development of which the assistance of experienced and creative artists is necessary, which is why the Helsinki Committee is announcing this competition.

The role of the illustrator will be to prepare an illustrated version based on the contributions made by historians and participants in the project,  on the topic "Common History of Different Communities Living in Serbia", which will then be published in electronic and printed form. As an example, the topics of the two illustrations will be the Albanian-Serbian “besa” (pledge of honor) from the beginning of the 20th century and the suffering of the Roma during the Second World War.

The illustrator will be in charge of the following activities:

• Detailed familiarization with the contribution on the basis of which the illustration is to be made;

• Giving proposals about the manner, content, length and form of the illustrated version of the contribution;

• Making the illustration.

The illustrator will carry out these tasks in cooperation and in consultation with the project team of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights and the authors of the textual content.

Several illustrators can be hired to do the work. By selecting them, the Helsinki Committee will set up a team of illustrators that can be engaged in other jobs during the project. Fee are provided for the engagement.

Interested artists are invited to express their interest in getting engaged in these jobs by submitting a short CV and their illustrated work/works, which was/were done earlier.

Your applications should be e-mailed to HO.konkurs@gmail.com  by December 17, 2020 at the latest.
