ADDITIONAL MEDICAL CARE AND SERVICES FOR 861 CITIZENS OF MEDVEDJA

In September 2009, Health Center Medvedja applied in the Coordination Body’s open competition with the project “Medical Assistance to and Care of the Persons with Special Needs and Vulnerable People”. The said open competition was announced as part of the Program for Distribution and Usage of the Funds for the Projects related to the Exercising and Promotion of Social and Minority Rights and Particular Qualities. The funds amounting to 1,356,500.00 dinars were approved to Medvedja, so that, in December 2009, it got an ambulance, the  aim of which is the improvement of healthcare, follow-up and provision of additional medical care and services to particularly vulnerable groups of people.

„So far, the project enabled the provision of additional medical care and  services,  which included a complete medical examination of 861 persons with special needs and vulnerable people.  In addition, we managed to do full laboratory tests (blood and biochemical tests) for 105 persons, as well as to prevent cardiovascular diseases and diabetes in case of 496 persons,” said Dragan Andjelkovic MD, who is in charge of organizing and managing project activities at the Medvedja Health Center.
 
The Coordination Body’s Office is going to continue following up the activities related to the projects funded by the tax payers’  financial resources, so that it could, along with its partners in the field, have an impact on improvement of the living standard of as many citizens of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja as possible.
