Birthrate in Presevo is 4.5 per mille, while it is 2.6 per mille in Bujanovac, which means that the number of births exceeds the number of deaths during the year.
Presevo is one of the five municipalities with the highest birth rate, which means that 14 babies are born per 1, 000 people.
According to the Republican Institute of Statistics, these two municipalities have the lowest mortality rate, which means that around 9 persons die per 1,000 people, while the average in the remaining part of South Serbia is about 15 people.
Out of 168 municipalities in Serbia, only eight of them have a positive population growth, and the first among them is the municipality of Novi Pazar with 8.6 per mille, the second one is Tutin with 7.9 per mille, the third one is Presevo, the fourth one is Bujanovac, followed by Novi Sad with 1.8 per mille, Sjenica with 1.4 per mille, while in the last two places are two Belgrade municipalities, those of Zvezdara and Surcin with 1 and 0.4 per mille, respectively.
