Leskovac, Medvedja – 52 members of the March and June class from the Jablanica region, who had done voluntary military service with weapons, were given badges and letters of thanks by the Army of Serbia and the Ministry of Defense, in recognition of their contribution to the protection and strengthening of the country’s defense system.

This is the second such ceremony held in Leskovac after the abolition of the compulsory military service, while Colonel Nenad Markovic, the Head of the Ministry of Defense’s Regional Center in Nis, said that they were responsible for the cities and municipalities from Kladovo to Presevo, and that they had been having the largest number of candidates for the voluntarily military service for years.

“Later on, these young men become the Army of Serbia’s staff, who are recruited and trained.  Members of this generation are already performing their regular duties on the state border. They are also in peacekeeping operations outside the country, as well as on regular duties in the local barracks, "said Colonel Markovic, who, along with Goran Cvetanovic, the Mayor of Leskovac, and representatives of the municipalities from the area of the Jablanica district, presented the awards.
