Medvedja – Representatives of businesses and institutions in the municipality of Medvedja signed engagement contracts on carying out  public works with 47 unemployed persons, whose earnings will be funded by the National Employment Office with 4.5 million dinars, while the local self-government provided three million dinars for that purpose, which is, as it was said in the statement, the largest allocation of funds to date for that purpose.

The contract was concluded between the National Employment Office, the Municipality of Medvedja, the Health Center in Medvedja, the Special Rehabilitation Hospital "Geyser" from Sijarinska Spa, the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Medvedja and the Public Utility Company "Obnova" from Medvedja.

“This is the largest allocation of funds for conducting public works by the municipality of Medvedja so far and also by all municipalities in the territory of the Jablanica District. Seasonal jobs are not a permanent alternative, since they are temporary in character, but they help the unemployed get through those few months, since they also have health insurance and their work experience runs during that period, ”said Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja. .

There will be 13 of them hired at PUC "Obnova" to do the cleaning of landfills, roads, cemeteries and the landscaping of public spaces, then 8 of them hired  at Medvedja Health Center  to do the maintenance and protection of the environment, clean the circle, offices and to dispose of municipal waste, 13 of them will, through the Tourist organization, work on fixing up tourist spots in Sijarinska Spa and Medvedja, while 13 of them will, for the Special Hospital for Rehabilitation in Sijarinska Spa, clean and maintain the spa river and park areas and work on the rehabilitation of the belt of thermomineral springs in Sijarinska Spa.  

Dejan Stankovic, Director of the Branch of the National Employment Office in Leskovac, said that they had good cooperation with the Municipality of Medvedja. Among other things, the municipality of Medvedja is the first municipality that paid for the Local Employment Action Plan (LEAP), from which employees would be funded over those four months.

“The Public Works Program is intended for the employment of primarily hard-to-employ persons and the unemployed in a state of social need, in order to preserve and improve the working ability of the unemployed, as well as to achieve a certain social interest. This year, the municipality of Medvedja has earmarked the largest amount of funds for public works in the Jablanica District, and Medvedja, as a devastated area, will have the privileges when hiring people for professional practice in the future,”said Branch Director Dejan Stankovic.
