Bujanovac, Belgrade – Branko Ruzic, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, said that the Fund for Local Self-Governments would be increased in 2018 from the current 10.63 million dinars to 320 million dinars, by which the municipalities and cities would be finally materially assisted.
"After many years we, as a government, have managed to provide larger funds for the local self-governments. So far, considerably smaller amounts have been distributed for the purpose of providing assistance during migrations and floods. However, thanks to the new rules, we will, now, be able to provide greater resources for overhauling the infrastructure and also for increasing the efficiency of the administration, "Minister Ruzic said.
He underscored that it was important not only for improving the quality of life of the citizens, but also for attracting new investments.
The rules will be adopted soon, after which the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will issue a call to the municipalities and cities to apply for these funds, the competent Ministry stated.
