Presevo, Bujanovac – The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government allocated a total of 490 million dinars for the implementation of 77 projects related to the construction of infrastructure, the introduction of e-government or the organization of cultural, tourist and sports events at the local level, as well as for the prevention of natural disasters.
The funds were received by 63 local self-governments in Serbia, including the following five municipalities in South Serbia: Bujanovac, Surdulica, Presevo, Bosilegrad and Vladicin Han. A total of a bit over 14 million dinars were allocated for those five municipalities.
Minister Branko Ruzic pointed out that funds in the Local Fund for that year were 50% higher than those in 2018 and stated that the approved projects would contribute to the development of municipalities and cities and to the welfare of the citizens.
“There were over 200 projects for the funds from the Local Fund this year, the total value of which exceeds two billion dinars, which shows the importance of the fund for local self-governments, "Minister Ruzic said, regretting that there was no possibility to finacially support all the projects.
For the first time this year, he added, projects for reducing the risk of climate change and natural disasters would be financed, while part of the funds would be directed to preventive activities, so that the property of both the local self-governments and the citizens could be protected.
“The number and diversity of submitted projects show that our local self-governments are able to prepare project and technical documentation and determine what is needed to improve the lives of the citizens in their environments, "Minister Ruzic said.
When it comes to the local self-governments in the southern part of the country, Bujanovac received 4.7 million dinars for the improvement and development of the operation of the Municipal Assembly, through the introduction of a system for electronic session management and voting.
2.4 million dinars were approved for the project of digitization of the Municipal Assembly in Presevo.
