Presevo, Vranje –135 migrants were transferred from the Reception Center in Presevo to a renovated motel in Vranje located next to the highway.  

High standards of accommodation, which were achieved at the Presevo Reception Center, were  raised to an even higher level in Vranje, so that each family has its own room with a bathroom.

The motel in Vranje was completely ruined during the two years of its non-operation. The infrastructure and wiring were renewed, the roof, which was leaking, was replaced and 12 garbage truckloads were taken out of it. It remains to renew the kitchen and canteen, as well as to put up the fence. So far, donors have helped, while the European Union has, for that purpose, earmarked 250,000 euros.

“We hope that the donors will not stop assisting us financially, so that the facility could be fully renovated. It will remain functional until there is a need for it, and then it will be returned to the Government of the Republic of Serbia," said Milenko Nikic, Adviser at the Ministry of Labor, who is in charge of the reception centers.

Also engaged are citizens of Vranje, the unemployed from the labor market. Two medical teams and workers are responsible for maintaining the building and its surroundings.

Migrants’ children will have the opportunity to continue working on their formal education in Vranje, which had started at the Reception Center in Presevo. There will be workshops for the adults, too
