100,000 DINARS FINE FOR THE PARENTS WHO FAIL TO ENROLL THEIR CHILDREN IN THE FIRST GRADE

Belgrade – “Parents who do not enroll their children in the first grade of primary school shall be fined 100,000 dinars, "said Mladen Sarcevic, the Education Minister.  He also said that the enrollment of first graders would begin  the following week and would last until the end of the summer.

"Elementary school is compulory by the law, and the parents who do not enroll their children by the deadline shall be fined by the judge, while we shall sue them, "Minister Sarčevic said.

He also said that the Ministry, in cooperation with the UNICEF, was working on making secondary school compulsory, too. The Minister said that the electronic diary, the introduction of which had started the year before, came to life and even exceeded the expectations. According to him, it had been planned for the electronic diary to be used in 200 schools, but it had already reached 556 schools. Also, the digitalization process will be more extensive, while with the Ministry of Telecommunications is working on a stronger internet network.
